An important component of the Leadership & Career Academy was the Senior Project, a culminating experience that challenged students to bring together the skills they had developed throughout high school.
Students selected topics they were passionate about and connected their interests to careers and community needs through research, hands-on projects or performances, and professional presentations. The experience required students to set goals, make decisions, work both independently and collaboratively, solve problems, communicate effectively, use technology, and process information.
With guidance from teachers, mentors, local business partners, and community members, students learned how to manage a long-term project from concept through completion. The experience also gave them an opportunity to build confidence and demonstrate their work during the final exhibition.
Although Senior Projects are no longer offered, many of the skills emphasized through the program remain at the heart of Career Partners’ work. Its legacy can be seen in programs that continue to challenge students to think critically, communicate professionally, collaborate with others, and apply their skills in real-world settings
