In 2009, Career Partners launched E² (E-Squared), a semester-long business competition that would grow to become one of the organization’s signature programs.

Students from Culpeper County’s two high schools were randomly assigned to teams, paired with local business coaches, and challenged to develop a complete business plan from the ground up. While entrepreneurship provided the framework for the competition, the experience was designed to build skills that extended far beyond starting a business.

Throughout the semester, students learned to collaborate with teammates they did not choose, manage deadlines, solve problems, think critically, communicate effectively, and present their ideas professionally. Local business coaches provided guidance and real-world perspective along the way, continuing Career Partners’ tradition of connecting students directly with the business community.

The inaugural competition concluded with Leg Decor earning the top honor and $5,000 scholarships for its team members. In the years that followed, E² continued to challenge students to work together, think creatively, and develop skills that would prepare them for success in college, careers, and beyond.
